a walk in the park

Day 5: Central Park and F.A.O. Schwarz

I didn't think the weather this week could get any better, but today it did. And what better thing to do when the weather is perfect than spend it in the park. So today we went to Central Park. We entered at Fifth Avenue and 79th Street and headed first to the Alice in Wonderland statue. Garrett had a great time climbing on top of Alice, the Mad Hatter, and the White Rabbit. Continuing south, we stopped to smell the crocuses, then walked through the Bethesda Terrace where Garrett was serenaded with children's songs by saxophone player. After a rest on a bench at the Mall, we lunched on street meat -- hot dogs, or "g-dahs," as Garrett calls them. After we exited the park at Fifth Avenue and 59th Street, we stepped inside F.A.O. Schwarz where both Garrett and Neil played the Big Piano.

Garrett at the Alice in Wonderland statue.

He climbed all the way up to Alice's lap by himself.

Stopping to smell the flowers.

Resting on a bench (see bottom left) at the Mall.

Caleb during a moment when he was particularly chipper.

Buying hot dogs from a street vendor.

And enjoying the hot dogs from the street vendor.

Garrett playing the Big Piano. He actually liked jumping on the piano more.

Neil's turn. He liked the lights.
