Last week, while visiting Auntie Colleen in New Jersey, we took a lovely autumn drive through the countryside and hopped back over the state line to visit
Ochs Orchard in Warwick, New York. It was a beautiful, sunny day, and the apples were ripe for the picking. A bit of a walk was required to get to the section of the orchard that was ready to harvest, but it was worth every step. Garrett did most of the work picking and filling our bag with both red and green varieties, while Caleb wandered in search of apples he could pick up off the ground. He grew particularly attached to a green one and wouldn't let go of it.
The leaves in this part of the country are just beginning to change, and the views from the top of the orchard, which is situated on a hillside, were beautiful. The excursion was completed by fresh apple cider, apple cider donuts, and a little pumpkin for Garrett to take home to Brooklyn. Oh, and a quick stop to another you-pick farm nearby to visit their petting zoo. Garrett was fascinated by the goats and chickens; Caleb didn't know what to think, but he seemed to have warmed up to them in the end.

That looks like a lot of fun. We used to go apple picking in Julian, but a couple years ago during the bad fires most of the orchards were ruined. I miss fresh picked apples.
Warwick is where Sal's parent's currently live. He grew up in Queens, but went to High School in Warwick. They have a HUGE apple fest every year and I'm totally jealous that you were there. It's such a beautiful place and time of year! Your kiddos are so cute! I love the pictures of Garrett getting his apples.
