brotherhood

Sometimes, like yesterday when Garrett wanted Caleb to come play with him on the playground and so led him gently by the hand around the park, all while Caleb patiently let him, I get pleasant glimpses of the more loving parts of brotherhood -- the parts that don't involve fighting, screaming, and button-pushing. I love being privy to these small but tender interactions. They remind me that deep down, somewhere, they really do love each other, and I think I need that as much as they do.

It's true. When my kids hold hands while we cross the street and I see people smiling to themselves I like to think I'm doing a good job ;)

How sweet! Garrett's such a good big brother! But, like most brothers, they'll probably have a great love-hate relationship! Luckily boys are quick to forgive and forget! Hmmm...hopefully Lydia will too! You're doing a great job!

Those overalls bring back memories! A similar bond existed between you and Tyler. Thanks for the memories.

Lindsay,

This story reminded me of one I read earlier on a friend's blog. Her youngest is really sick and in the hospital. There is a little story here (http://foreverfife.blogspot.com/2010/09/updates.html) about how the older brother (Corban) cheered him up.

So cute. It's awesome to watch the relationship unfold.

These moments seem to be few and far between at our house, but when I do catch them, I try and burn them into my memory. That way when they're fighting and yelling, I can tell myself that they really love each other.

These are super cute pictures.
