The two sets above both reverse to this polka dot print:
The set below has the same print on both sides:
And the best part is, because oilcloth is a vinyl fabric, they wipe clean oh so easily.
They turned out pretty darling, don't you think?
Chalkboard cloth is in the same family as oilcloth, only it has been prepared differently to allow for chalk to draw and erase on it (which it does incredibly well). A few of you have asked how the chalkboard mats I made were received by the boys. We've brought one of them (Caleb is still too young to appreciate his) to church for the last couple of weeks, and it's been great. They're not messy (unless your kid likes to go needlessly crazy with a piece of chalk), and Garrett loves to draw on his, and then use the little scrap of cloth I included to erase his work. His attention span is short, especially during church, so the fun only lasts a few minutes, but I take everything I can get, so it's been totally worth it. I have a few scraps left of chalkboard cloth, plus some leftover oilcloth, so I'm toying with the idea of making a few more smaller chalkboard mats, because really, why not?

I love these placemats! They really turned out great and look so nice with your red plates. I'm going to have to make a trip back to Fredericksburg.
Oh, those are darling! Love them. I was just thinking about you this week when I mentioned to some friends where we went in NYC--Fishs Eddy, among several other places. Now I need to go browse around their website . . .
