As I'm sure a lot of you have already recognized for yourselves, for every perk of Pinterest there is something that makes me crazy. For example, in the few months since I started pinning, I've been introduced to some delicious recipes that have already become staples in our dinner rotation. But for every good one, there is also one that is so overly focused on making sure that the photographs they take of their culinary concoctions are awesome, the actual written recipe is left wide open to interpretation, and not in a good way.
Take the peach lemonade recipe that was floating around the pinboards a little while back. The pictures look pretty, but knowing how much the recipe makes would certainly help in guessing exactly how much water you're supposed to add to the peach/lemon mixture to make it drinkable.
I don't claim to be a food blogger -- far from it -- but I know that it takes more than a quality photograph to be a quality food blogger. Much, much more.
But peach lemonade still sounded delicious, so I still wanted to try making some. Also, the Georgia peaches are ripe and going cheap in the produce markets right now, tempting me with their plumpness. So I bought the ingredients and gave it a whirl.
I served my first attempt to my book club friends at our meeting last week. They told me it was really good, though I'm still not sure how truthful they were because my second attempt tasted so much better. Both of those times I used seltzer to make it a sparkling lemonade, so on my third attempt I tried plain water. Either way works, but seltzer is a little more fun. It also, I learned, is more palatable if there is less pulp from either the lemons or the peaches, so strain the lemons well and puree the peaches until very smooth.
Here is my interpretation (and alteration) of the original recipe. Tweak it as you feel necessary -- I sure did.
Peach Lemonade
makes approximately 2 quarts
3-4 peaches, peeled and roughly chopped
5-6 lemons, juiced and well strained
1 cup sugar
approximately 1 quart cold water or 1 liter seltzer
Place lemon juice in a 2 quart pitcher. Puree the peaches and sugar in a food processor or blender until very smooth and add to the lemon juice in the pitcher. Add water or seltzer and stir to combine. Serve cold.

Sounds yummy, but more work than I'm willing to put in. But that's probably because I'm a little lazy when it comes to treats!
I feel honored to have experienced your peach lemonade! It really is the perfect summer beverage.
