The boys had fun. Caleb especially loved running around the pier. Garrett was tired and consequently a little mellow, but enjoyed looking at the docked ships, the bridges and buildings in the distance, and the ferries, tugboats, and barges in action out on the river. He was mildly disappointed that we weren't going to ride an "orange boat" (i.e. the Staten Island Ferry), but quickly settled for a promise that we would do that soon. As for me, it just felt great to be out of my apartment.

sail away
The weather wasn't too bad yesterday, for February. And, as Blake had the day off work (as a reward for volunteering to work into the wee hours of the morning Sunday night as a top editor supervising survey writing for Superbowl commercials), we decided to get the heck out of our house. After concluding that the zoo and the aquarium's winter hours wouldn't allow for enough time to leisurely enjoy ourselves, we had to think of something that Garrett would find equally as awesome. It didn't take long to come to the most obvious answer: go watch the boats anchored at the South Street Seaport.

so cute and fun! I'm glad you got a day out and hopefully a good dose against those cabin fever days.
How fun! And so great that Blake was able to join y'all! Thanks for your thoughts!
Sometimes it doesn't matter where we go, as long as it's out of the house even if only for an hour. It looks like both the boys had fun and mama hopefully gained some sanity back!
I like my pita recipe, but I use whole white wheat flour so I am sure they would be better with all white.
The link is on my blog back in October. You should try it, I love them and they don't crumble like my homemade bread always does. Your family looks great and you guys always seem to have the best time. Let me know how the pitas go.
