it all ends

In a few hours it all ends. In a few hours Chelsea will be on a westbound airplane and her five-week stay with us will officially be over. I am already mourning her loss, and really, can you blame me? She's been a wonderful companion and an incredible help. It's going to be very hard to adjust back to life without her here. I get a little teary-eyed just thinking about it.

Maybe blogging about our last weekend together will help me feel better. We did, after all, do our best to make sure she went out with a bang. Here's what we did to make it great.

On Friday morning we went to playgroup. Since she's been helping Emily with the triplets while she's been in Brooklyn, we needed to photo-document that fact. She sure has her hands full!

After the park we headed to Manhattan's Upper West Side so Chelsea could do baptisms in the temple.

Afterwards we walked through Central Park. It was such a nice day!

We met up with Blake and my brother Tyler (who was once again on this coast for a work conference) and took advantage of the free hours at the MoMA. The highlight of the visit was watching everyone else look at Van Gogh's Starry Night.

Early on Saturday morning we boarded a bus at the Port Authority and went to spend the day in New Jersey with Uncle Joel, Aunt Colleen, and Sam and Leisa. After a pancake breakfast we swung by the Toys R Us corporate headquarters to test out their display playgrounds.

Then we watched it all end for Harry Potter at the local theater.

While we were watching the movie, Garrett and Caleb helped Joel and Colleen move rocks in their yard. By the time we got back they were done with rocks and had moved on to watching worms.

I couldn't let Chelsea go back to Provo without having to literally wade her way to church in Brooklyn during a torrential downpour. By the time we reached the chapel, we were soaked to the skin, which made for a very uncomfortable three hours of worship. But now she knows how big of an impact a change in the weather can have on an outing for us.

Today she helped with the triplets one last time, and let me go grocery shopping by myself one last time. She's also made one last visit to Bagel Boy. Her bags are packed and by all accounts she looks ready to go.

But I don't know if I can let her.

I can SO relate. My sister was only here for a week and I bawled like a baby when she left! I'm glad you've had such a fun time with her here.

That's so hard to say goodbye to visitors. It's the visits that make me wish more and more that we lived closer to family no matter how much I'm loving our adventures. Good luck readjusting and if you shed more than a few tears, know there are others that would be doing the same thing!

Oh, sad times! It seems like you guys were just having a great time. Thank goodness for single little sisters who love you and your kids though, right?

We all miss her over here! Thanks for sharing her. I hope she made enough $$$. I wanted to give her a big, fat bonus check but sadly, we are fresh out of those. But she was awesome. I really liked her. Maybe next summer . . .
