channeling my inner bookbinder

Eight blank books, each measuring 4.25" x 5.5."

Covers made from card stock and outdated subway and bus maps.

Of those made with subway maps, there is one book representing each of the five boroughs. Of the three made with bus maps, two are Brooklyn and one is Manhattan.

Filled with 24 lb white resume paper.

Bound with embroidery thread using a basic Japanese stab binding.

I love that you are still book binding. I've been trying to keep up on it too! So fun! They look fabulous! Anything in mind for what you'll use them for, or just amazingly stylish note/coloring/sketch books?

Sorry I never ever got back to you about your other project you were wondering about, the blog. I fell off the earth with bookbinding for awhile but I'm trying to get back on. :)

They look great! Do you have tutorial link you used to make them? I would love to show the YW how!

Janetta -- I actually just made these up as I went and didn't use a tutorial, but if you Google "Japanese Stab Binding," there are some basic instructions out there. I considered -- and tried -- making a tutorial of my own, but it just didn't fly. I don't know how those crafty mom-bloggers do it :) If you try making your own and have any questions, I'd be happy to try to help.
