I am, if you recall, one of Zippy's (and by extension, Haven Kimmel's) biggest fans, which made it even harder to have to turn down my mom's request to attend with her. I did, however, mail my copies of the Zippy books to her to see if she can get them signed, and I'm looking forward to hearing every tiny detail about the event. But it won't be the same as being there in person. (Or actually with my mom, for that matter.)
In the meantime I can try to appease my present desire to be at home in Provo by soaking up (in 30-second increments) the Ski Utah ad campaign currently hogging the airwaves here in New York City (despite the fact that it's hardly snowed at all there this season). Caleb sure is. It's his favorite commercial. Every time it airs, he drops whatever he's doing and stands directly in front of the TV so as to be as focused as possible while he watches.

Fun! And I would be there with you. If only expense was never an obstacle, and I'm sure we'd see a lot more of each other. (And probably meet more authors, for that matter.) :)
I saw your mom today and she said 'hi' to me :) I wish you could have been there too.
Ach! I know. Every time I see all the fabulous events Provo and Orem libraries have, I want to cry. Heard good things about this one from my library-loving friends, though!
Oh, and I should mention, there are probably LOADS of author events in NY, though many probably downtown or not convenient for you. Still, I know there are a lot at the indie bookstores in NYC. And Books of Wonder has loads of great children's events too. Ok, done now. :)
There are lots of author events in New York, and I've tried a few times to go to some of them. But you'll never find anything so awesome here for only $20. For a similar event as big as this one in Provo, you'd easily be spending $200 in NYC.
